Ministries

Nativity is a church family with a wide range of ministries. Contact the person listed or call the parish office at (508) 393-3146 for more information on any of the following:

ACOLYTES – The Acolyte Guild consists of adults and youth (ages 7 and above) who perform various duties at the altar to assist during Sunday and other worship services.

MEN’S MINISTRY – This group helps coordinate the offering of programs for the men of the parish.

  Matthew Beach

ADULT CHOIR – The adult choir rehearses weekly, presents offertory anthems and other special music on Sundays at 10:00, and at other special services.

OUTREACH COMMITTEE – This group meets monthly to determine budget expenditures and to pray for missionaries, organizations, and service projects that are part of our Reach ministry.

ALTAR GUILD – Guild members are responsible for preparing the altar area for the Eucharist and other services, cleaning and polishing the vessels, and caring for linens and liturgical hangings.

PASTORAL CARE TEAM – The Pastoral Care Team is a group of lay pastors who assist the clergy in offering pastoral support through phone calls, notes, hospital or home visits.

BREAD-BAKING – This group bakes the communion bread used at weekend worship.

PRAYER CHAIN – This group of parish intercessors is dedicated to praying daily for those with special needs who desire the ongoing prayers of the church community.

CD MINISTRY – All Sunday 10:00 Services, as well as certain special services and events, are recorded by our Sound & Light Team, and the sermon ministry duplicates them for distribution and sale.

PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY – This group meets to pray and knit shawls to be given to those in need of a tangible expression of God’s healing touch.

CHILDREN’S EDUCATION – Quality Christian Education is provided using Godly Play for children from Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 5 at the 10:00 worship service.. Youth, Grade 6 through Grade 8, also meet at this time..

REFUGE – The Refuge is the area reserved for quiet prayer time for individuals or groups.

COFFEE HOURS – These people offer hospitality after our weekend worship services.

COMMUNITY MEALS – This Team joins with other churches to provide free meals for elderly and needy at Northborough’s Trinity Church.

SMALL GROUPS – A number of groups, of up to twelve persons (some having a special focus), meet weekly, in homes and at the church, for Bible study, prayer and fellowship.

FINANCE COMMITTEE – This group provides long-range financial stability to the parish.

SOUND & LIGHTING – This team maintains and operates the sound and lighting equipment used in the parish hall for services and other events.

FLOWER GUILD – The guild members, using provided funds, prepare flowers for weekend worship and other special services.

TWELFTH NIGHT –  This annual celebration of the spirit of Christmas features entertainment and a delicious catered meal.

USHERS – Ushers have responsibility for seating worshippers, passing out bulletins, counting attendance, and collecting and presenting the offering.

HEALING MINISTRY – This group provides healing prayer at services, by appointment, and at the monthly healing service, with training regularly.

LAY EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS &
LAY READERS
– These persons are parishioners who assist at Communion, read lessons, lead prayers, and officiate at some worship services.

YOUTH MINISTRY: JUNIOR HIGH – “JET” is for junior high youth, usually meeting on Friday evenings for activity, music, prayer and fellowship.

LEVITES – This group of adults and youth has responsibility for setting up and taking down the parish hall for worship on Sunday mornings.

YOUTH MINISTRY: SENIOR HIGH – This is a program for high school youth which meets at the church each Sunday evening for fellowship, fun, prayer, and various service projects.

LIVING NATIVITY – This annual outdoor presentation of the birth of Christ includes a large cast and a timeless message.  This is followed with cookies and hot cider are served in the Parish Hall.
