Reach
The Bible tells us that 'faith without works is dead' (James 2:17). God expects that the grace He has given us will overflow in grace extended to others. We therefore seek to respond compassionately to needy people both near and far, demonstrating God's compassionate mercy to our neighbors, classmates, co-workers, to all our 'neighbors' as He gives us ability. We also focus our prayers and resources on local, national and international outreach ministries and support missionaries who reach out on our behalf. Some of our Mission/Outreach involvements:
Reach Committee This group, consisting of leaders of the following ministries and directed by the Vestry Liaison for Reach, coordinates our following in the footsteps of the Good Samaritan in Luke 10, the one who proved to be the good neighbor to those in need.
Northborough Community Meals We regularly prepare and serve food at Trinity Church on Wednesday evenings at a meal which is open to the public, free of charge.
Westborough State Hospital At special times during the year, we sponsor special parties for the residents of this facility, offering food, fellowship, and fun to those who struggle with mental illness.
Neighborhood Prayer Visitations Normally held for a week during the summer, this small group of prayerful people calls on homes in the neighborhood of the church building, offering a greeting and taking prayer requests.
Habitat for Humanity We have participated in regional projects to build affordable housing for low-to-moderate income families, working with others to help make homes a reality.
Mission Trips On a yearly basis, we sponsor mission/outreach trips to engage participants for a full week in reaching out in a significant way to people and needs, rotating the location of the trips each year among local, national, and international opportunities for service.
Pre-School One of our most effective means of reaching others with the good news of Christ is by welcoming and caring for children, as did our Lord.
Vacation Bible School The same is said of our one-week VBS, which is held during the summer both to serve the families of our region and to lead children to Christ and to a deeper life with him.
Parish Fair This annual event, normally held in November, is an opportunity for us to reach out to the Holiday shoppers in a gentle, caring setting, with a tithe of the proceeds earmarked for special outreach projects.
Applefest This one-day event in September celebrating the town of Northborough (Applefest) features our participating in a town parade, our offering free water and Bibles at a booth downtown.
